slow, but steady...

Even though my BF's parents were in town this weekend, I managed to get some knitting done. I have done the armhole shaping and should be finished with the back by the end of this week. For some reason, I am able to fly through the 2x2 ribbing. I'm not sure how the front pieces will go. I'll put up some pix once I finish the back.

Unfortunately, I missed the grand opening of Knit Happens. I just wasn't able to pull myself away.

work in progress...

Okay, first let me thank n-Gen for the super cool graphic. They have this cool program that you can download and play with that will generate random graphics! Check it out.

I have also been trying to tweak the blogger template. Their templates are nice basics, but I'm hoping to pick up some HTML/css skills to personalize it. So far there are tons of resources on the web -- I really like style-sheets.com so far. I just need to keep testing until I get a look that I like. what do you think of the static background? pretty cool, huh?

I'm on a quest to make this blog more visually appealing...then I need to try to bring my archive over. The focus will still be on knitting, just cooler.

the ants go marching 2x2...

Last night, I got to the end of what I wanted to be my last series of decreases on the poncho. I was really excited...until I held it up and realized that it eas still much too small for me to wear. It's going to hit the frog pond. So, it's official...no poncho.

I quickly realized that I need something to do with my hands, so I cast on for a vintage sweater. It's called "snow daisies." Originally it called for a worsted weight wool. Instead, I'm going to make in a cotton/acrylic.

mind if i start this one over again?

So, my poncho design isn't quite working out. It looks great but it's sized for a 12-year old. I think the guage I have been working in is just a little to tight, and what I'm looking for should be a little more airy. So, guess what? I'm gonna start over again. Actually, I'm going to start the 2nd half and see I like the way that turns out.

look what I won!

Once again, I've got a bite of the spring fever. On Friday afternoon, I couldn't resist any longer, I ordered the new Rowan magazine. I can't wait to get my hands on it. In the meanwhile, I decided to check out some ebay auctions to see if there was anything good. And this is what I ended up with...10 balls of Rowan 4-ply cotton! Now, all I have to do is find beads. Rosa, here I come!

it's on...

I've sketched out the rough design for the new poncho. I had started one back in the fall, but quickly realized that it wasn't quite what I wanted. It was mostly stockenette, with a little detail that would fall around the neck. Well, the leaf pattern that I wanted ended up a complete flop.

We'll I'm back to the original poncho desire, inspired by Benetton. This one will be much more simple to knit. It's a cool ribbed pattern w/ a cowl neck...which I might tinker with a little, since it's summer now. So far, I've work out my gauge (4.5 st = 1") using two strands of Paton's Country Garden DK. It's the same yarn that I started v1.0 with, in a plum color. I'll probably cast on today or tomorrow!

knitting hiatus...

I haven't been writing much because I haven't been knitting. I got some great books for my Festivus gifts and have been bringing those with me on the bus instead of a knitting project. I have also not been inspired to pick up Marsha for a while. The thought of mohair now that spring is here doesn't really make a lot of sense. I might have to store her away on the back burner for longer than I thought.

This is what I'm really itching for:

I would also like a simple black cardigan. Needless to say, I've got an itch to get started on something new, I just don't know what. I think I'm going to cast on for my poncho...oh yeah and rip out the last attempt. I'll keep you posted!
