chart one...done!

Last night, I finished the first chart of AB^3. It looks pretty good, and I've managed to avoid too many major mistakes.. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take any pictures.

So far, the only complaint that I have is with the yarn. I'm using the yarn recommended by the pattern, Debbie Bliss wool/cotton. I love the color. I love the way the stitches look. I hate the fact that every ball has had a knot in it! That's right, I've gone through 4 balls so far, and every one of them has had a knot in it. The worst part is that I keep finding them once I get to the middle of a row. So, I have to tink back to the beginning of the row to rejoin the yarn. This is supposed to be high-quality yarn. I would understand if I found knots in one, maybe two, of the eleven balls...I'm a little aggravated.

Thankfully, I will be picking up stitches all the way around the blanket, so I should be able to hide all of the extra loose ends.

Wow! I can so relate to the UGH! of knots in yarn. My recent indulgence was 2 skeins of Noro silk garden and after making one hat w/ the 1st skein, I started another hat w/ the second & while wrapping a center pull ball I soon discovered a knot. I just used the part after the knot and did not run out until very near the end in the decreases and had to weave in extra ends.
One shop owner had told me to inform her of such discoveries & though my purchase was from a different shop, I e-mailed the shop where I got the Noro. They sent back: "it is no indication of quality, knots are normal in yarn, the yarn has to start and end somewhere."
Did you get any feedback? I still hate knots. But I did fall in love with the Noro.
I am in the sticks in Iowa & have to road trip or ship to get the good stuff.
If I'm sittin' I'm knittin'. Barb Goecke

hmm...I never thought to send a comment, especially since I ordered the yarn online.

I agree that the quality of the yarn is good (that was just a rant). I am mostly surprised that there have been knots in every ball. I have bought sealed packs before that have had a knot in 2 out of 10. But, I'm batting 5/11!
